Carvel, the original soft serve ice cream brand enters the Indian market with its first store opening in New Delhi in September 2025. Founded in 1934 by Tom Carvel, who is credited as the Inventor of Soft Serve, played a pioneering role in shaping the frozen dessert industry. As the first ice cream franchise in the United States, Carvel has become one of the most cherished and recognisable names in the category. This marks the brand’s first foray into India since its launch over 90 years ago; India’s love for ice cream, celebration, indulgence, and togetherness makes it the perfect home for Carvel.

Tom Carvel begins selling ice cream from his vending truck.

Carvel Corporation is formed. Tom Carvel patents a “no air pump” super-low temperature ice cream.

The brand introduces the Flying Saucer® and celebrates its 100th shoppe.

Carvel® starts selling ice cream novelties at the first ice cream supermarket ever.
